SamDaddy denies Wike as Rivers State governor and supporters pull out of Atiku Campaign

National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Samuel Anyanwu, has denied report linking him to party leaders who recently pulled out from Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign team.

National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Samuel Anyanwu, has denied report linking him to party leaders who recently pulled out from Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign team.

Anyanwu, who, in statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Ikenna Onuoha, reiterated his loyalty and commitment to the party, described the report as false and handiwork of detractors.

The statement reads: “The attention of the National Secretary of PDP, Anyanwu, has been drawn to a mischievous and frivolous story on social media that he has pulled out from Atiku’s Presidential Campaign Council.

“The story is totally false and baseless and, therefore, should be disregarded. However, such propaganda and campaign of calumny is meant to blackmail the PDP national scribe and create infighting in our party.

“It is worthy of note that the falsehood remains the handiwork of enemies of our party struggling to distract Anyanwu and his colleagues from dislodging the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023 general elections and save the country from misrule.

“The PDP National Secretary further assured Nigerians of the party’s readiness to oust President Muhammadu Buhari’s led government, and, thereafter, enthrone good governance that will be anchored on transparency, sustainable and human capital development.”

The Guardian gathered that Anyanwu is a close political ally to Governor Nyeso Wike of Rivers State, who, alongside some chieftains of the party, on Wednesday, pulled out from the list, which announced them as members of the presidential campaign council of Atiku.

Wike’s group insisted that the current PDP National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, must step down for someone from the South, since Atiku, the party’s presidential candidate, is also from the North, in the interest of equity, fairness, justice and peace in the party.
