Okorocha Yet to reveal Whereabouts of Imo Air, five other aircrafts 5 years after
It was on Tuesday, the 24th day of January, 2017, that the then governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, alongside his aides, would land at the Same Mbakwe Airport on an aircraft that had the inscription, ImoAIR written on it’s side.
Okorocha would announce to the world, that Imo State had joined the airline business, stating that the aircraft was one of fleet already paid for. He made us realise that Imo State had paid for five more aircrafts, which would soon be operating in the Nigerian Airspace.
Interestingly, after that maiden flight, the aircraft vanished from the Nigerian airspace, and has remained a mystery for the past five years, with Okorocha silent over its whereabouts.
An article published by Ripples Nigeria, attached described the Imo Air venture as a scam designed by Okorocha, and carried out in partnership with Dana Air, a private aircraft operator in the country, which had its name written under the ImoAir inscription.
Imolites have since wondered what happened to the aircraft and the other five Okorocha claimed he had paid for?
Were they leased out to private operators? If so, to who and how is the money collected?
Were they returned to the sellers? If so, what happened to the money we paid to them? Was the money returned to the coffers of the Imo State government, or into the private pockets of some individuals?
Are the aircrafts still in the country? Where are they parked? Why are they not flying?
These and many more are the questions Imo people are eager to hear from the former governor, as he gets ready to contest for the Number One position in the country.
If Okorocha cannot give proper account of his mismanagement of Imo State, how then do we expect him to give proper account of his mismanagement of Nigeria if given the opportunity?
The editorial staff of CrudePen calls on the Governor Hope Uzodinma government, to help get closure for Imo people over what happened to the aircrafts Okorocha bought with our money.
