Insecurity: Imo PDP Legal Adviser Ikeokwu admits the party failed, begs for forgiveness
The Legal Adviser of the Imo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Barr. Kissinger Ikeokwu have come forward to admit that the major opposition party in the state, did not do enough to speak out against criminal elements that besieged the state recently.
In a post on his Facebook wall, which he would later try to edit following reactions to the post, Ikeokwu admitted that the party failed in their duties, and begged the members of the Nigeria Police, who lost personnel during the period of crisis.
The PDP in Imo State have been accused of playing petty politics with the lives lost during the crisis, rather than condemn the activities of the criminals in the state.
Popular radio presenter Theodore Chinonso Uba popularly known as NonsoNkwa, had in a radio programme, blasted the opposition in the state, of keeping quiet during the crisis, and instead turned it around as a way to attack the Senator Hope Uzodinma administration, rather than come up with ways to help end the crisis and save lives.
The original post obtained from Ikeokwu’s wall before he edited it read as follows;
“At this point we will all need to appologise to the men of the Nigerian Police Force for our refusal to speak up against those who attacked its officers and burnt Police formations all around Imo State.
“It is now clear to all that criminals burnt those Police formations in a bid to have easy run over our local communities.
“Many in the local communities hailed the hoodlums as they burnt and attavked Police Divisions. Many thought they were freedom fighters pursuing their cause. Little did they know that after the Police and Army, we are their easy prey. Now people in rural communities cannot sleep with their two eyes closed.
“Truth is we didn’t speak up enough and that is counted against us as silent support or condonation.“
