Imo journalist demands justice over mother’s death

Suspicious over the circumstance that led to untimely death of his dear mother, Ezinne Patricia Okeoma, an Imo State based Journalist, Mr. Chidiebube Okeoma has raised an alarm alleging that one Mr Amos Ike masterminded the accidental death for ritual purposes.

Okeoma, who is the Imo State correspondent of Punch newspapers, called on the Inspector General of Police, other security agencies and human rights groups for thorough investigations.

Okeoma in a seriously worded petition by his Lawyer to the Imo state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ahmed Barde and made available to The Authority in Owerri, Imo State capital lamented that the Okigwe Police Division presently handling the matter lacks the implicit confidence and trust expected by him to prosecute the case.

Subsequently, he has called for the immediate transfer of the case file to the State Criminal Investigation Department ( SCID) of the State Command.

According to him, he wants the case file transferred to the State CID for thorough investigation of the alleged accidental death of his mother.

The petition signed by his lawyer, Barr Uche Nwoha lamented that Amos Ike had on August 24th along the ever busy Okigwe-Owerri road killed Mrs Patricia Okeoma, who was returning from a burial ceremony in Anara in the Isiala Mbano local government area of Imo state.

Further he said, Ike while driving his RX Lexus vehicle, trailed his mother on the road to execute what he described as “ritual plan”, where his mother was knocked down.

Okeoma said after the incident, Ike absconded with his car and went into hiding for 5 days, while his mother gave up the ghost mysteriously.

He maintained that the alleged hit and run car was an intentional act by the suspect just to untimely send the woman to untimely death and for his alleged selfish interest, informing that the deceased is at undisclosed mortuary.
