Imo Govt Halts Land Grabbers At Avu Area

The Imo State Government in it’s endless fight against unending land grabbing and racketeering has put to an end to the ongoing criminal activities by some unscrupulous individuals suspected to be involved in land thefts at Avu Autonomous Community in Owerri-West LGA of the state.

It was gathered that some people have continually kept deaf ears despite all the warning and caution by the Shared Prosperity Government over land grabbing.

It was gathered that the Land Recovery Team led by the Special Adviser, to the Imo State Governor on Land Recovery, Prince Paschal Nwakanma (Dumdum), on Thursday, Jan.11th 2024, working on information available to his office, stormed Avu area where two earth moving equipment (caterpillar machines) were clearing the bush.

A mandate was delivered by the SA who ordered for the clapping down of the duo earth moving machines at Avu area off Owerri/Portharcourt Road Axis.

“Land clearing refers to the process of uprooting and clearing vegetation in preparation for a construction site that aimed at establishing and achieving projects;

“But the government of the day in Imo under Governor Uzodimma has requested that all ongoing projects meant for the government purposes should be ceased until after his second term swearing in ceremony which is coming on next week Monday, January 15th 2024, yet some persons suspected to be criminals are busy jumping into govt lands”.

But all efforts made by the Recovery Team to assertain the person or those that spareheaded land clearing at the developing location in Avu community proved abortive as some of the hired labourers disclosed that they were only paid to render the services of ensuring the land clearing.

Also, the operators of the two machines (caterpillar operators) who narrated their involvements, told the Recovery Team that they were only hired for the job and can not be able to make reasonable information concerning the person who contracted them available to the govt.

The Team in their wisdom and proactive nature clapped down the machines and requested anybody involved to come for claim.

Meanwhile, the SA on Land Recovery, Prince Dumdum and his Team have been called and invited by the people of Orlu township areas to navigate their movements of recovery to their locations, even as they revealed that some persons (individuals claiming to be govt agents) are forcefully grabbing their lands.
