Ihedioha’s Island Of Relevancy Where Only Him Lives

By Collins Ughalaa KSC

Let us for once take a trip to Ihedioha’s Island of Relevancy where only him lives. Before we embark on this journey, may we warn you that Ihedioha’s dwelling place is the Island of delusion, make-believe and charlatanism. Island of mandate thieves. It is an island where Ihedioha believes he is popularly elected governor of Imo State and rebukes executive governors for not recognizing him as such. It is an island where he assumes the place of God and condemns those who do not recognize him, telling them to confess their sins and seek atonement.

An incident happened at a public event in Abuja on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. According to a publication on the frontpage of ThisDay newspaper, Nigeria’s foremost newspaper, on Thursday, October 14, Ihedioha was livid that Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State did not recognize him as “the man popularly elected governor by Imo people”. This false claim is at the heart of the problems in Imo State and it shows how Ihedioha esteems himself falsely. Such arrogance.

“When Governor Ganduje [of Kano State] made his address, he chose not to recognize me. I was not disturbed [true?]. It only explained what I already know. Governor Ganduje belongs to the class that won’t admit that I was the man popularly elected as governor by Imo people. Facts are sacred and our actions in life remain historical and there is nothing we can do about them. Governor Ganduje, I pray that God gives you the courage one day to confess your [sin] and ask for atonement”, he fired at Ganduje.

Ihedioha has not stopped telling lies about the outcome of the 2019 governorship election. He has not found the courage to admit that the 2019 governorship election was stolen and that he got a Negotiated Declaration by INEC. But the Supreme Court saw through the charade orchestrated by INEC and did the right thing by restoring the mandate to the rightful owner – the Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma.

We agree with Ihedioha that facts are sacred. That is why we have to dispassionately look at the facts of the results of the 2019 governorship election once more, to ascertain whether Ihedioha was the man popularly elected governor by Imo people.

According to the result released by INEC, Ihedioha became Governor with 273,404 votes. Out of the 273,404 votes donated to him by INEC, 125,241 votes – about half of his total votes – came from Mbaise where he comes from. Simple arithmetic shows that Ihedioha managed to get mere 148,163 votes in other 24 local government areas of the State – and 125,241 votes from just three local government areas. If we divide 148,163 votes by the rest of the 24 local government areas, what we get is that Ihedioha got 6,173 votes from each LGA.

Is it not shocking that Ihedioha claims to be the popularly elected governor by Imo people with just 6,173 votes from each LGA? If Ihedioha’s magical 125,241 votes from Mbaise alone did not strike you, then you have developed thick skin for anything. The magical Mbaise 125,241 votes show that at best Ihedioha was the man popularly elected governor by his Mbaise people. Was he not the governor of the Mbaise Nation?

Apart from Oguta LGA where his deputy comes from, Ihedioha lost woefully in the rest of the 11 local government areas in Orlu Zone. In Okigwe Zone, he lost woefully in the whole of the six local government areas. In Owerri Zone where he comes from, he eked out some wins but padded those of the three local government areas in Mbaise, to make up for his unpopularity across the State. This was why votes from Mbaise were half of his entire votes. How can this person be shameless and beat chest and say he was popularly elected governor by Imo people? And call himself a man of integrity? Such impunity!

Ihedioha may be fooling some Imo youths. He may have fooled his PDP but he could not pool a wool over the eyes of the Supreme Court justices. Thus they were able to retrieve the mandate from Ihedioha’s jaws and claws and return it to the man who earned it. This conforms to what the bible said in Ezekiel 21:27: “I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he comes whose right it is; and I will give it [to] him.”

By making Ihedioha’s stolen mandate desolate, the Supreme Court set fire to his Island of Relevancy and reduced it to ashes. He has not recovered from this loss and he has been struggling to rebuild his Island.

Ihedioha’s strategy for rebuilding his burnt Island is two-pronged: (1) distract Governor Hope Uzodimma with lies, fakery, so that Imo people will not believe him or appreciate the wonderful works he has been doing. This is why the PDP assembled over 600 Imo youths for a radicalisation programme. The party and their governorship candidate believe that by deceiving the people and spreading falsehood Imo people could rather focus on him as the saviour and rebuilder. But it is all fluke. (2) make Imo State ungovernable so that Imo people would see the Governor as incompetent, and so that he could be further distracted from delivering on his promises like he is tenaciously doing. Ihedioha, the self proclaimed rebuilder and messiah figure, hopes that he could become governor again and begin to rebuild the ruins he is creating. This too, is all fluke.

Next time Ihedioha lies to you again, tell him he got 6,173 votes from 24 local government areas and couldn’t have been the man popularly elected governor by Imo people. He rather stole another man’s mandate. Next time he tells you how he would return to Douglas House, tell him to stop building his castle in the air.
