Detained Imo Lands Commissioner Regains Freedom After About 40 Days In Police Custody
The embattled and ousted Commissioner for Lands in Imo State, Noble Atulegwu Abiaso, has been released from Police custody after spending about 40 days in detention at the order of the Executive Governor of the state, Governor Hope Uzodimma.
Recall that Governor Uzodimma had ordered the arrest and detention of Atulegwu, over alleged land grabbing reports and other related criminal matters.
He has been in detention at the Imo Police Headquarters Owerri since over 6 weeks ago.
It was gathered that the suspended Commissioner was released on Friday, Dec. 29th 2023, after all the investigations by the department of State CID (Serious Crime Department) of the Police Command.
Atulegwu was granted bail to enable him reunite with his family whom he missed during Xmas celebration.
However source from Imo Govt House Owerri, who did not want his name on print, disclosed to newsmen, that more actions and investigations are await the embattled commissioner as he will be called upon immediately after 2023 festive period for more questions and thereafter charged to court of competent jurisdiction.
