Imo: INEC Reacts over LP’s claims of withholding certified copies of Electoral materials
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has reacted to the claim that was recently made by the Labour Party in Imo State, that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, refused to issue the party with certified true copies of materials used during the just concluded Governorship election in the state.
While reacting, the electoral body made it known that it has acknowledged the receipt of the application for the certification of the documents from the Labour Party and had held active correspondence with them, informing them that the legal department would estimate the cost of the certification of all 33 items they had requested for.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, made this disclosure in a post it made on X, noting that the commission is assembling all the needed documents to assess the cost so that payment could be made.
The post read: “INEC however acknowledges the receipt of the application for the certification of documents from the LP, and had held active correspondence with them, informing them that the legal department would estimate the cost of the certification of all 33 items they requested for.
“The Commission is assembling all the needed documents to assess the cost so that payment could be made.
“Management clearly understands the right of parties to request for CTC of documents and would work assiduously to issue them.”
Recall that the Imo State Labour Party recently accused the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, of refusing to give them the Certified True Copies (CTC) of the materials used during the last Governorship election in Imo State.
