2023: Amara MBAIKE sets his sights on Nwawuba’s seat

History was made today the 26th day of March 2022, at Umunoha/Azara Ward in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, as Barr. Chinemerem Amara Egbuchulam declared his intentions to run for the Federal House of Representatives seat.

The young lawyer and businessman made his intentions this known, while addressing party executive as well as ward leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, at the ward office.

Amara MBAIKE as he is referred to by associates and friends, decried the lack of Federal presence in MBAIKE, which was a far cry from what he had seen in other parts of the country he had worked in.

Amara MBAIKE noted the lack of attention to the Ukwuoji-Nwaoriebui-Iho road, which he observed have been ignored by successive representatives, despite the economic value of the road to MBAIKE and Imo State at large.

Amara MBAIKE further frowned at the keke napep and bus empowerment of most elected representatives, observing that it was out of place to empower a graduate with a keke napep, as has become the tradition with politicians.

Amara MBAIKE assured of his resolve to make sure MBAIKE is not shortchanged in the scheme of things at the Federal level.

In his reaction, Barr. Ekomaru SAN, himself a former House of Representatives member who was present at the declaration, expressed his delight to see young men standing up to challenge a system which seemed to favour moneybags and the elderly.

Ekomaru traced his political journey likening it to Amara MBAIKE’s aspiration, pointing out that he had no money to buy delegates when he won the seat during the Gen. Sani Abacha era.

Ekomaru assured Amara MBAIKE of his unflinching support and further pledged to pay for half of the cost for his nomination and expression of interest forms.

Other leaders in the ward such as Barr OYB Nwafor amongst others, expressed their joy at seeing a young man such as Amara MBAIKE, coming forward to battle the odds that his age and political experience may throw against him.

The ward leaders assured Amara MBAIKE of their support, while offering him encouragement and words of advise for the task ahead of him.

Amara MBAIKE will be facing at the party primaries, the likes of the incumbent Rt Hon Henry Nwawuba who is seeking his third term in office, as well as a former governorship candidate of the UPP, Osmond Ukanacho.

A victory at the primaries, would see Amara MBAIKE squaring off against the candidates of other parties, with the likes of Akarachi Amadi, currently making waves as the likely candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC.
