NNPC Nobody’s birthright, group insists as Buhari sacks Araraume

An Imo State youth group have commended the appointment of Senator Margaret Okadigbo as a member of the NNPC Board, following the removal of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume from the board.

Their reaction contained in a Press release issued by the convener of the group, Sir Collins Ughalaa, reads as follows;

GLOBAL ASSOCIATION OF CONCERNED IMO YOUTHS (GACIY)

PRESS RELEASE

WE WELCOME SENATOR OKADIGBO’S APPOINTMENT AS CHAIR OF NNPC BOARD

NNPC NOT ANYBODY’S BIRTHRIGHT

GACIY rejoices with Senator Margaret Chuba Okadigo on her appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari as Chairman of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd.

We praise Almighty God who bestowed upon Mr. President the wisdom and excellence of thought to cast down the former nominee and raise another in his stead. This is the signature of the Almighty who resists the proud, but raises the meek.

Imo people are happy for their sister from Anambra State, especially since we are all one big Igbo family and there is great strength in solidarity.

GACIY also felicitates our Imo brother, Dr. Kelechi Onyekachi Ofoegbu, on his appointment by Mr. President as Executive Commissioner Economic Regulations & Strategic Planning, Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission.

For GACIY,

1) by elevating Mrs Okadigbo (widow of a noble Igbo son and former Senate President Chuba Okadigo), President Buhari has reinforced his position as a stickler for merit, friend of the East, and the nation’s premier he-for-she.
May we urge Madam Okadigbo’s board members to accord her the necessary support to deliver on her mandate, please.

2) Mr. President has signaled a zero tolerance for bad blood at the NNPC Towers especially now that it has become a full-fledged enterprise. The thought of inaugurating a man whose idea of Board Chairmanship is to first try to unseat his own state governor must have made the President nauseous.

3) It is more strategic for President Buhari to consolidate on the APC structure in Anambra State where the party is still in the planting season, hence the choice of Mrs Okadigbo.

4) Governor Hope Uzodimma deserves commendation for facilitating the emergence of yet another son of Imo into the management of an A-list oil regulator.

While we advise the new appointees to do us proud, we will continue to urge all political gladiators in Imo to support our Governor because not only does he hold our best interests at heart, he posseses the wherewithal to bring them forth.

God bless our homeland, Imo.

Signed:

Collins Ughalaa KSC
